You have to insure your boat for when you're in the water. Most homeowners policies will cover it for damages at
your home. Your auto policy should cover it while you are towing your boat to the dock. But while you're using your boat
on the water, it has to have coverage that extends to damage to the boat plus injury to persons. Persons in your boat as well
as people in the water or other boats.
Did you know your driving record applies to the rating criteria for boats?
I have found to some this does not make sense but whether it makes sense or not, there is no way around it. But not only does
driving record count toward or against boating rates, the clue report connects most any insurance surcharge information. If
you were a policy holder or covered person in any claim or any person named in a claim is associated to your address,
that surcharge information is included in a clue report. When your ssn is ran, as it will be as a part or the application
process, this info is revealed.
There are similar bodily injury and property damage amounts to select like in auto
insurance.
