Most people are familiar with uninsured motorist coverage. They know that if a mororist is at fault in an accident and
has no insurance, having uninsured motorist coverage on their policy cover them. But with everything costing so much these
days, especially hospital care, what happens if the coverage an at fault does not have enough coverage to cover your bills?
Here in Arkansas, a person can carry as low as $25000 bodiliy injury coverage which is not recommended in most cases
but is nevertheless carried by most motorist. That amount can easily be eclipsed if you sustain more than a broken arm. By
having underinsured motorist coverage you can bridge gaps in another's coverage limits.
This is also a coverage
that has to be rejected in writing by the named insured and usually carries the same as the liability limits on the insureds
policy. It should be noted that a person can reject the option of having underinsured limits the same as the uninsured limits
but they have to be lower.
Also in Arkansas the uninsured motorist coverage carries a property damage coverage
that can be rejected as a part of uninsured but underinsured does not offer a property damage option.
